General Characteristics
Air-hardening tool steel offering outstanding stability during heat treatment. A2 tool steel has gained wide popularity in applications where a high risk of distortion or cracking exists. Substantially increased toughness and wearing properties improve die life significantly at a cost only slightly higher than that of basic oil-hardening grades. A2 tool steel is worthy of consideration in many applications where up grading from an oil-hardening grade is desired.
