General Characteristics

Highly versatile and easy to handle in every respect, O1 has long been considered the general purpose tool room steel. Low hardening temperatures allow in-plant heat treatment even where facilities are limited, saving time and expense. Available in a wide variety of sizes and shapes, O1 is a practical selection for many tooling and maintenance applications.

Typical Applications

Blanking, forming, drawing, molding, trimming dies, spindles, thread gauges, collets and stamps.

General Characteristics

Designed to retain hardness at elevated temperatures and withstand the effects of alternate heating and cooling, H13 is used extensively in aluminum extrusion, aluminum die casting and forging die applications. Its exceptional toughness and inherent resiliency have also made this a popular material for die casing in the cold heading field. H13 is recommended in a wide range of hot work applications.

Typical Applications

Die casting, die inserts, core pins, bolsters, ejector pins, mandrels
